Viridian Metals has received official approval from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for the 2025 Junior Exploration Assistance (JEA) Letter of Intent which recognizes Sedna as a Critical Minerals Project with a primary exploration focus on copper and silver.
“This is an important step for Viridian and for Newfoundland’s role in the global energy transition,” said Tyrell Sutherland, CEO and President of Viridian Metals. “The JEA program allows companies like ours to take bold, early-stage exploration risks with the backing of provincial support. It’s a signal that copper—alongside silver and other critical metals—isn’t just a resource, but a strategic lever in building the infrastructure of tomorrow.”
Junior Exploration Assistance (JEA) aims to grow the mineral inventory of the province through the discovery of new mineral districts, occurrences, prospects, and deposits. JEA also aims to advance mineral discoveries through the stage of defining NI 43-101 compliant mineral resources and to enhance Newfoundland and Labrador’s competitiveness as a world-class mineral exploration destination.
This recognition strengthens Viridian’s belief in Sedna’s potential as a world class copper basin. It also underscores the provincial government’s commitment to responsibly unlocking the next generation of energy-transition metals.
