The project area spans 185km2 and has been the site of historical work by Noranda/Kennecott and Teck Resources. The area includes a 45km contact between an ultramafic intrusion and basement rocks. Drill intercepts have revealed up to 4.1% Copper (Cu). There are over 800 Electromagnetic (EM) near-surface anomalies identified in an airborne Time-Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) survey. Mineralization occurs at the surface, and downhole EM has yet to be utilized.
At Viridian Metals Corp, we are excited to present the significant exploration findings from the Kraken Main Zone. This area features a prominent 5-kilometer conductor with numerous high-grade targets containing nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), and cobalt (Co). Our drilling results have revealed promising concentrations of these metals, including notable intercepts such as 8 meters at 0.5% Ni+Cu+Co, 15 meters at 0.28% Ni+Cu+Co, and 13 meters at 0.32% Ni+Cu+Co. These findings underscore the substantial mineralization potential of the zone, although some areas remain to be analyzed. Historical intercepts by Teck include an impressive 46 meters at 0.3% Ni+Cu+Co from a depth of 2 meters, with mineralization open in all directions.
Our maiden Viridian drilling results further demonstrate the resource potential with intercepts of 40 meters at 0.28% Ni+Cu+Co and 14.8 meters at 0.42% Ni+Cu+Co from the bedrock surface. Our exploration goals for the Kraken Main Zone are ambitious and focused on developing a long-life bulk tonnage open pit, targeting a resource of 100-200 million tonnes at a combined grade of 0.3%-0.4% Cu-Ni-Co. These findings position the Kraken Main Zone as a highly promising project for future development and resource extraction, aligning with Viridian Metals Corp’s commitment to uncovering and maximizing resource potential.
