Lessons from the Field at Sedna

After 35 days in the field—split between 21 days in June and 14 in July—the Viridian Metals team has officially completed its second site visit at the Sedna project in the Seal Lake Basin.

This summer’s goal was clear: broaden the geological understanding of the basin. Charlene Duffett, Viridian’s Exploration Manager said they achieved  this through a combination of targeted fieldwork and data collection designed to challenge, verify, and expand our existing models.

“The majority of previous work has been done in the southern part of the basin,” she said. “We’re focused on understanding the entire mineral system, not just what’s been explored historically. By testing under-explored regions, we significantly broaden our knowledge of the entire system.”

Key highlights from the trip include:

  • Ground-truthing key structures interpreted from airborne imagery
  • Collecting a diverse and representative sample suite for analysis
  • Re-examining known historical showings
  • Identifying new, previously undocumented areas of interest

The Sedna program is part of our broader vision to responsibly unlock the critical metals required for the energy transition. As Viridian shifts into planning for the Fall program, our team remains committed to discovery, integrity, and sustainable exploration.
